April 27th, 2017 UPDATE
Our two training sessions went well and without any glitches. The boat is moving well, the new sails feel great and look great shape-wise. What effect the rudder will have on our down wind sailing has yet to be determined. Let's hope we get a training day in with a strong breeze out of the west.
It's important to spend time together to build chemistry and for those who have not sailed the boat much or at all, to become totally familiar with how everything works and where everything is located. Again we are not a walk on walk off program.
Safety check lists are moving forwards steadily. We do want to practice the man-over-board drill with everyone on board. EPIRB and PLB registrations are up to date. We must check on the Jon Buoy repack schedule/requirements.
A brand new 12 man life raft has been ordered which meets the most demanding requirements for ocean racing. It's do before May 10th. It will be packed to fit in the current spot.
A single side band radio is on the way from Canada. McMichael's will be handling the installation at a convenient time during the summer.
All sails have been delivered and tested. Minor adjustment are being made but none will be returning to the loft for shape adjustments.
All rigging so far has been working out great. Minor adjustments are going to be made in the bowsprit area upon the recommendation of the bow team.
The trailer shelving is complete. A work bench is being made, a draft beer system is on order.
